Classes
Our hālau offers classes for multiple ages and skill levels. Ages listed are a suggestion, class placement is at the discretion of the Kumu. All classes are $60 per person, per month. There are no refunds or prorating for missed classes. An additional, one-time enrollment fee of $60 includes a hālau t-shirt and a hula binder with hālau information and initial class materials.
Students are required to arrive at class on time, be well-groomed (long hair tied back in either a ponytail or bun), and wear a hālau t-shirt with either black leggings or bike shorts. Additional hālau t-shirts are available for purchase.

Papa Muʻo (Ages 4-6), Beginning Keiki
Monday, 3:30-4:30pm
This class is designed for keiki who are new to hula. We will learn the fundamentals of hula including basic steps, chants, and age-appropriate songs. Keiki will be introduced to Hawaiian language and learn simple words and phrases.

Papa Liko (Ages 7-12), Intermediate Keiki
Monday, 4:45-5:45pm
This class is designed for older children with basic experience in hula. We will strengthen foundational hula basics and learn chants and age-appropriate songs. Keiki in this class will also learn words and basic phrases in Hawaiian.

Papa Maile, Beginning Adults/Gracious Ladies
Monday, 6:15-7:30pm (** This class will be held at Kīlauea School Cafeteria)
This class is designed for adults with no hula experience and more mature adults who may have mobility challenges or want a little slower pace. We will focus primarily on ʻauana songs and in addition to building a foundation in hula, we will learn basic words and phrases in Hawaiian which will help the dancers engage on a deeper level with the mele learned.

Papa Mokihana (Ages 6-8), Beginning Keiki
Wednesday, 3:30-4:30pm
This class is designed for keiki who are new to hula but are a little older. We will learn the fundamentals of hula including basic steps, chants, and age-appropriate songs. Keiki will be introduced to Hawaiian language and learn simple words and phrases.

Papa Kupukupu, Beginning Teens
Wednesday, 4:45-5:45pm
This class is designed for teens and adults who are new to hula . We will learn foundational hula basics and learn chants and dances (both kahiko and ʻauana). Participants in this class will also learn words and basic phrases in Hawaiian and will be required to complete occasional research papers about assigned topics.

Papa ʻIwaʻiwa, Adults
Wednesday, 6:15-7:30pm (**This class will be held at Kīlauea School Cafeteria.)
This class is designed for women who have basic experience in hula. We will strengthen hula basics, learn selected chants, and focus primarily on ʻauana songs. Participants in this class will also learn words and basic phrases in Hawaiian.
