Perpetuating hula, cultivating community.

About the Kumu
Hālau Kamawaelualani is led by Kumu Hula Kalikolīhau "Līhau" Paik who resides in Kīlauea, Kauaʻi. Līhau has been involved in the Hawaiian music and hula community for most of her life. Hula has always been a passion of hers; her hula journey began at age 3 with her mother, Mariane Holu Hannahs, who has familial ties to Kauaʻi and was a long-time student of Aunty Maiki Aiu Lake. Through the years, Līhau also studied with Aunty Mae Loebenstein, Maelia Loebenstein-Carter, Ulalia Woodside Lee, and Kaʻilihiwa Vaughan, before completing her traditional ʻūniki rites and graduating as a Kumu Hula in 2024 under Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakāne of Hālau Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu.
