About the Kumu

Hālau Kamawaelualani is led by Kumu Hula Kalikolīhau "Līhau" Paik who resides in Kīlauea, Kauaʻi. ​Līhau has been involved in the Hawaiian music and hula community for most of her life. Hula has always been a passion of hers; her hula journey began at age 3 with her mother, Mariane Holu Hannahs, who has familial ties to Kauaʻi and was a long-time student of Aunty Maiki Aiu Lake. Through the years, Līhau also studied with Aunty Mae Loebenstein, Maelia Loebenstein-Carter, Ulalia Woodside Lee, and Kaʻilihiwa Vaughan, before completing her traditional ʻūniki rites and graduating as a Kumu Hula in 2024 under Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakāne of Hālau Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu.
